Around the World Tour: Our Visit to China This Month

his month at Nightingale Care Home, our residents embarked on another exciting stop in our “Around the World Tour”—this time, we travelled all the way to the beautiful and culturally rich country of China!
The morning began with an interactive session where we explored fascinating facts about China’s history, traditions, and landmarks. Residents enjoyed learning about the Great Wall of China, the Terracotta Army, and the importance of Chinese New Year celebrations. We also looked at the Chinese zodiac and had fun discovering which animal represents each of us! 🐉🐇🐅
The room was beautifully decorated with red lanterns and Chinese symbols of good luck, creating a festive atmosphere that truly transported us across the globe. Residents joined in with traditional Chinese music and even had a go at learning a few simple Mandarin phrases—it was wonderful to see so many smiles and laughter throughout the morning! ❤️
Of course, no trip to China would be complete without some delicious food. For lunch, we enjoyed a Chinese-inspired menu featuring sweet and sour chicken, vegetable chow mein, egg fried rice, and spring rolls. The meal was a big hit, with everyone going back for seconds! 🥢 To finish, we indulged in banana fritters with honey for dessert—absolutely delicious! 😋
The afternoon continued with a themed quiz and a fun activity making paper fans and origami. It was a lovely opportunity for everyone to get creative and chat about travel memories and dreams of faraway places.
Our “Around the World” days are always a highlight for residents and staff alike—they bring so much joy, learning, and connection. We’re already looking forward to discovering where our next adventure will take us! 🌍✈️
